Kiev and Wendy’s Actual Day Wedding Photography
A wedding by the river is not something you get to see every day, especially in Singapore. Kiev and Wendy had recently engaged me for one such wedding at “The Four Points”, a hotel which just so happens to be situated near the Singapore River (and the very picturesque Robertson Bridge). I particularly loved the outdoor solemnisation area complete with dark brown wood floors and walls surrounded by greenery which gave the whole affair a wonderful cozy, rustic feel.
After that we proceeded to the indoor part of the day. The stage is well lit and neutral in colour which is always a plus. The layout was relatively simple, however the march-in took a curved route which pushed me to take a 2 part approach to shooting it: wide angle on the entrance followed by a quick run back to the stage and using the 85mm for the main portion of the march. Overall it worked out pretty well, I think having people throw flower petals liberally definitely added some spice and levity to the proceedings and was a good call on the couple’s part.
The lighting was decent; the colored walls definitely helped separate the subject from the background, and using the 85mm almost wide open added to that as well. What you get are intimate crowd shots with smooth bokeh melting into the back, which has the added bonus of blurring any unwanted details, such as CCTV cameras or distracting wall fixtures.
We closed off with a few quick photos by the river at the end of the reception. Having some time with just the couple is super important to me as some of the most beautiful and raw photos come from these short sessions.
